Shame on You Humboldt State.

Ok,

So I do know this blog is about fiber, spinning and yarn and knitting and food, and occasional ceramics chickens.

I am afraid most people accuse my generation of apathy. I’m not going to talk about that now, and I hardly ever feel the need to climb my butt on to a soap box…..

I have been a student at Humboldt State For 8 long years. When I was first a student here it was the year that 9/11 happened. I felt I had attended a school where people strived for social responsibly. It seemed that people made a big deal and took time to make others aware.

No more. Gen X is gone, it is now a Yuppie filled gen Y. How can you say this? ( you might ask of me). I am officially on the cusp of X and Y.

So HSU needs more on campus housing, as most of us know this is a caused by a combination of problems…. But, I was surprised one day to be in the new Student Services Building ( this is new on campus too) and see the plans of dorms planned for this year. I scoffed and scuffed as I knew the protesting and legal crap people would throw in the way it would take years. Well about two weeks ago bull dozers showed up.. and I thought, hmm not my problem.

Last week when the constructions office trailer was placed over 8 valuable parking spots I was pissed but thought ok… still not my problem…

But wait….. They cut down more Trees on LK Wood. AS if it wasn’t bad enough there use to be a whole lane of Pine trees that were beautiful they cut those down when they put up the towers …. Did they really need to cut down those threes? YOU administrators know people come here for the trees which are now disappearing from campus.

People have pointed out to me that there will be more trees planted when they landscape… but is this true or just the justification of the yuppie Ys and the apathy that now plagues HSU?

Also in the news today that CSU will turn away freshman, will this affect Humboldt? DO we really need those new dorms then?
