Kent State Museum and StitchPiece and Purl ( a yarn store)

The lady who owned the shop was super nice and even knew about THE PIPN Program!

Needlepoint, Knitting- Second and third day

I saw this wee beastie on the way to school ( not quite as cute as yard dogs)

Second and third class for PIPN ( Professional Pathways into Needlearts) for TNNA ( The National Needlearts Association). On Thursday morning we finished the needlepoint part of the class. Pipa made a really cool Needle case out of her needlepoint project.

Professor Jennings let me borrow her Louet S10 to finish up my sock yarn.

Thursday afternoon we started Knitting, which there was some frustrations, we started a sampler.

On the sampler we have :

1 ¼ inch of Garter stitch

1 ¼ stockingnet stick

1 ¼ of ribbed.

1 ¼ of basket weave

1 ¼ of our choice.

This is Pipas Sampler.

On Thursday afternoon we learned the knit stitch ( Pipa and I are previous know how to knitters).

( Erica found out that sometimes don't work out)

This lead to a lot of deep and thoughtful looks.

Then on Friday we did the Purl stitch.

First day of class needlepoint

For the record, the Dorms Fire alarm went off this morning and luckily cause it was so cold I slept in my sweater and went downstairs. It really wasn't cool at like 6:15 this morning, and I can't imagine what it is like when the dorms are full ( I'm going to class but will post picture later)

Well we learned on the First day how to needlepoint. Who taught you ask ?

Catherine Leslie who is a professor at Kent state university and she wrote Needlework through History: An Encyclopedia.

Dr. Leslie is an Assistant Professor in The Fashion School at Kent State University where she teaches History of Costume, History of Textiles, Fashion Merchandising, and workshops in the Needle Arts.

It was a lot of fun learning the new techniques. The stitches we learned were continental (tent) and bargello. We also got free jelly bags, I am not sure who donated them but that you very much.

Here is a picture( left to right) of

Pippa who is going to Classic Elite

Becky who is going to Coats and Clark

Erica who is going to Tanglewood.
Dana who is going to Knitwits

Also Katie who is going with me to Misti International.

We have to make a coaster and a bookmark. My book mark is well this is it, not finished.

computer is down Iona Dettelbach

Yesterday we had a meet and greet. The visiting lady who had written a book called Cerating centemporary Bargello.

I took this image from the Stitchery of St. Simmons . She was super nice nad excited about us being in the program. There were alos otehr people who talked to us. My computers backlight burned out. The computer help desk here is super great about fixing it. So hopefully tomorrow.

I tried to take the image from the site but it didn't work

On the way to akron....

Well, Ok the adventure starts. So to say. Mom and I were repacking* this morning. I dropped out my cashmere silk fiber, some lichen dyed yarn and some sock yarn. WHY you ask? My mom looked at me like I was crazy. I am already going to be frelling carrying two luggage pieces and two carry ons. I am suppose ** to be getting a hotel room tonight in Akron when I get there at the unholy hour of 1115 pm.

6 hours of lay over, why Autumn don’t you try and get an earlier flight? Well because if you have appear tickets ( I bought them at the same time as the Peru in a package) you can’t do that except when you check in. Since Delta had a very unhelpful attendant checking me in it sucked.

Well Now I am in Salt Lake City Airport for three hours. Please keep the comments to yourself. There is a plethora of food, I decided it was far too early to start pubbing it up or I might never get to t Akron. SO I settle for a Cinnabon.

This was when I saw these wonderful ceramic chickens. I do not even leave Atlanta until (935. OMG. I wished I would have knew that when I checked in. Belk. And the wireless is weird it says there is a free public but won’t let me connect and no it isn’t the one with the phone or pay it is free.

Oh Mom I wished I would have brought all those snacks I loved them. Mom also was distressed that I took 5 classic doctor who books over a sick book.
First point I wasn’t aware I could bring her books. Secondly if you guys have sock patterns that are free or what ever send me because I still brought a substantial amount of yarn and needles. Secondly my passport isn’t here I mean it didn’t’ get there I hope it get there this week or we are going to have some major problems…..

On the flight I got this Cheese and fruit dish along with more Biscoff I love these I wish I could have them every day with tea.

When I got to Atlanta I decided to stop and refresh myself.

I got to akron at like 1 and then hotel and cab to univeristy. We are still settling out internet and rooms. SEND SOCK PATTERSN AND BISCOFF!

We found an internet lab but not in our dorms soo….

Ceramic Chickens-Directed Study

Well lets say it has been one hell of a hectic week filled with lots of fatty foods. After getting my finals done and all my chickens. Two of them succumbed to bad things today. While I Was coming home from stitch and bitch , I had to swerve to avoid a car, and the green chicken tea pot lost it combs ( the red part on the top of his head), I am sad as I cannot find them in the truck. One of the chartreuse chickens with white spots and purple tail also succumbed. This makes me uber uber sad. Because I pit lots and lots of work into them they came out and only through my own carelessness they met their end.

I also need some help I want to take some books and clothes as I am going to three climates varying from 85-20 ( the 20 is at night). I would prefer to take one suitcase but I thin that might not be possible. The second bag policy is 25$ what dumb ass at the airline thought that up> also they should let you use your frequent flyer miles to take a second. So tips on clothes and books, should I spend the money on audio books?

Here they are some of my chickens.

Here they all are before any harm befell them

These both are teapots. They are between the size of a Orange and Grapefruit.

This one might be for dad

This one Billy might get and look she is pink.

All and all they were good. I had really liked the green teapot one. ( not posted) Hopefully I can fix him

Bob Scare. Finals. Crap more crap and oh yeah Bacteriology

Ok while I take a timely break from bacteriology studying A few things. First of all yesterday at my College Humboldt State university, there was a bomb scare. Now this is very bothersome, because well, I live in the pot capital of North America, what wanker would fake a bomb scare? At the time no one knew it was a prank, all of the science and art complex as well as music were evacuated ( it is finals week and this i s very disturbing).

Beyond that I am waiting for some chickens to come out of the glaze then I will this weekend be posting lovely pictures of them.

Also weird question from the farmers market this lady asked me if you could spin lint, I was like yeah ( thinking it was lint from a dryer). This is totally going to prove how weird Arcata is that is when this lady says my friend has been saving his belly button link for years, and he wants to make it into a sweater. What is the hell. Who sin the hell what are you thinking, and I have a belly button ring nad I do not have crap in there.

I also have been corresponding with the other intern. We are going to have lots fo fun. We friended each other on facebook and we share a lot of music movie and life stuff cool hu? I need to find some nicer clothes for casual wear .

I have lots of pictures that I got from the life I class I model for I need to take pictures and post them but right now after, umm I don’t know like 2 hours of glazing more chickens all I can’ think about is my BT final tomorrow and cringe. Cringe I want a D, I will do a dance for a D, a happy YAY I get to go drink beer dance. Also I think someone stole one of my turkey cups from ceramics, those bastards. Tomorrow hectic, got to…. Go to school start kiln, go model, study like in hr, take BT final study for genetics final, oh hope my paper ticket comes so I can send my damn visa out.

OK Cool stuff to look at until I post my pictures : From Click here for odd sheep

This I got from :

This one I found all on my own, warning this is a ten minute video on food.

PERU. Colored Chickens. Chocolate, Market

Bleck how is it already the end of the year?

Food count for the week

Café Au laits with Half and half-7

Cupcakes-1 ( really I think it was 2)

Muffins-4

Japhys-5 meals

Cool drawings of self-3

Chicken eggs-4

Bacon- ½ pounds

Self loathing moments of guilt-4

So,

As you can tell it is finals. I got some of the chickens done and need to glaze them I am also going to Peru and got my tickets and and debating about taking my wheel and how many pairs of knitting needles. I am also making a surprise visit home ( well surprise for dad so do not tell any one).

I need shoes, a haircut, a adapter plug for blow dryer…. Lots of stuff, so I modeled this week a lot more then I expected but it was a nice expected. I got a wonderful painting from Joyce Jonte.

I had more café Au laits with half and half then is probably healthy, I also got a chocolate muffin with blackberry’s, very chocolate but not too sweets, muffin not cup cake, of course with organic everything, if you have small ones go and get them one from the Co-OP.

Then lets see I got eggs too from one of the artists, I went to the market . Where there was a variety of multicolored carrots, Barley, Araucana eggs, honey, flowers, herbs… It was great.

Then there were the chickens…… Wee little beasties. Hopefully they will be done by Thursday. I have finals on Wednesday, then Thursday. Then I am going out for three days.

I spent all morning on the phone with trying to get flight, I also cannot find the credit card now. I then went and got an au lait creamy delicious liquid fat, wait not that is baked brie. Then I got a cupcake. I know I know bad bad Autumn. Did I mention this is a chocolate cream filled cupcake with cream on top covered in hard chocolate and a raspberry? Well it was delicious and my butt is all the better for the pound it gained from that sweet tasty treat of ecstasy. Then there were the berries a mix of gogi, some thing else, two kinds of cherries and white mulberries.

More chickens……

Then I also started listening to the best of our knowledge. WOW it was really good . I would like to read books by Isabel Allende, The Sum of Our Days . Also the writer of The house of spirts, IT sounded really really good, it revolves around themes of magical realism, as in line with the author Gabriel Garcia Marquez, author of Love In the Time of cholera.

Also on all things considered there was this weird thing about eating endangered species, weird who know, I think it is more about bringing back heritage breeds, the book is called Renewing America.

I think my brother would love that book.

Wow it seems as if there is ton to do and I am unsure how this will actually happen. Also since all the airlines, have started charging for second bags, anyone have tips for packing or clothes to take besides jeans? The weather in one town is 57 the other is 67. Also I need one of those plug adapters, and should I be taking the Louet Victoria or a drop spindle? THE Chickens are for sale but not til I get back, unless your dying to have one :P
